My journey began in Amsterdam, right after the annual JustChunks team meetup at CenterParcs Eemhof in the Netherlands. I planned to take the night train directly from there to Zurich, where I would meet up with my friend from Australia. Since the train didn’t leave until later in the evening, I had an entire afternoon to spend in Amsterdam. I used the time to visit a few museums, including the National Maritime Museum, and enjoyed wandering along the canals. I also learned the hard way that booking a night train too late means no bed and still an expensive ticket. It is an experience I will not repeat.

In Zurich, we visited the Lindt Chocolate Museum and the Swiss National Museum, ate fondue on a tourist boat and made a stop at the FIFA Museum. It was a great mix of culture, food and fun.

After that, I returned home briefly to attend my first university lectures, only to head out again that Friday to Hamburg, where we met up once more for Polaris, a convention filled with gaming, cosplay and all kinds of creative booths.

Hamburg was fantastic. Between the convention, some unexpected reunions with people I had met at Gamescom, a massive harbor tour and plenty of good food, it was the perfect end to a packed few weeks.
